Terms of Use — Test Prepper

These terms cover Test Prepper ("the app"), published by JBecSoft ("we", "us"). Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, do not use the app.
Using the app
You may install and use the app on any computer you control, for as long as you like, for personal, family, classroom or other study use. You may not sell it, rent it, or present it as your own work.
You may not use the app to break the law, to infringe someone else's rights, or to attack or overload the services it talks to.
What the app is, and is not
The app is a study aid. It is not a teacher, a grader of record, or a diagnosis or treatment for dyslexia or any other condition. Its features — read-aloud, adjustable text, lenient marking of spelling — are preferences a reader can choose, offered because letting the reader choose is well supported, not because any one of them is a remedy.
Marks the app gives are its own. They carry no weight with a school, and its lenient scoring of spelling is deliberately more forgiving than a paper exam will be.
Material you import
The Add a unit feature builds a study unit from photographs you supply. You are responsible for the material you photograph: only import pages you own or have permission to use, and only pages you are willing to have read by the service described in the privacy policy. Do not import anything confidential or anything about another person.
Units you import remain yours. We claim no rights over them, keep no copy of the photographs, and use nothing you send to train anything.
The unit that comes back is produced by an AI service reading a photograph, and it can be wrong — a misread word, a definition that does not match the page. The app checks each unit against its own rules before it can be added, but that only catches decks that are inconsistent with themselves, not ones that disagree with the page. Check an imported unit against the original before studying from it.
The import service
Building a unit from a photograph uses a service we run and pay for. We may limit how much it can be used, change how it works, or withdraw it, without notice. Everything else in the app — the units that ship with it, all seven ways to practise, read-aloud, and progress — keeps working if that service is unavailable.
Third-party services
If you turn on syncing, your use of Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive is governed by your agreement with Google or Microsoft, not by these terms. The voice model is downloaded from Hugging Face under its own licence. We are not responsible for those services, their availability, or their terms.
Your data
Your progress, settings and imported units live on your computer, and in your own Drive or OneDrive folder if you sync. Keeping backups is up to you. We hold no copy and cannot restore anything you lose. What the app stores and what it sends is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that its marking is accurate, or that a unit built from a photograph is faithful to that photograph.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, JBecSoft is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost study time, or exam results, arising out of the use of or inability to use the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
Changes
These terms may change as the app does. The current version always lives at this address, with the date at the top updated. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
